Vinings kitchen remodel featuring Mouser Cabinets in Benjamin Moore Creamy with Taj Mahal quartzite countertops with a custom half dining table integrated into kitchen island with wood top by Against the Grain WoodTops

Vibrant Vinings Kitchen Renovation

This Vinings kitchen remodel was a collaborative effort between Schuon Kitchens & Baths and Susan Negri, owner of SN Designs. Marc Tyson was brought into the project by Susan, a longtime design partner of nearly 20 years, with whom he has collaborated on many successful projects.

The homeowners purchased the property knowing the kitchen needed a complete transformation. The original space was dated, with a chopped-up floor plan that lacked flow, functionality, and connection to the rest of the home. The goal was to create a vibrant, highly functional kitchen tailored to how the homeowners cook, entertain, and gather.

The remodel expanded and reconfigured the kitchen while also carving out a dedicated laundry area featuring a stacked washer and dryer with custom cabinetry. Schuon Kitchens & Baths also designed and built a custom fireplace mantel for the living room, adding architectural interest and continuity throughout the home.

“Using a star system, we would easily rate our experience with Schuon Kitchens as a 5-star. The quality of the cabinetry is excellent, as expected. But there are three reasons for our satisfaction that really stand out beyond the “product.” First, the attention to details in the planning process was exceptional. At times anxious to begin, we quickly realized that each planning step laid out very precise expectations for what was ahead. Secondly, the quality of the people we worked with, beginning with our project manager, was an integral part of our success. We knew what was happening next and enjoyed a professional and collaborative environment throughout the process. Thirdly, we had a multi-week delay in the process that had nothing to do with Schuon. Once we received the go ahead to proceed, everyone worked tirelessly to get the job back on track. From this point to completion, it was a rare day that there were not workmen in our house striving to finish the job. We would not hesitate to work with Schuon again.” – N. J.

More About the Kitchen Design

Because the kitchen has a long footprint, the layout was thoughtfully zoned for both function and visual balance. A beverage center anchors one end of the space, while the center features a dedicated baking area with a lower counter height—ideal for kneading dough and preparing baked goods. The primary cooking and prep zone is located on the opposite end, creating an intuitive workflow.

At the heart of the kitchen is a large island that provides generous prep space and storage. It includes a microwave, warming drawer, and additional cabinetry along the back side for maximum efficiency. In the corner, custom cabinetry adds even more storage, along with a dedicated space for the homeowners’ Breville oven and a tall pantry cabinet.

One of the most distinctive features of the kitchen is the half dining table seamlessly integrated at the end of the island. The pedestal base was sourced from Etsy, while the custom wood top was handcrafted by Against the Grain WoodTops. The homeowners’ antique chairs were refinished, creating a meaningful and inviting dining space that blends old and new.

The kitchen is finished with Mouser Cabinets, custom-painted in Benjamin Moore Creamy, paired with Taj Mahal quartzite countertops sourced from OHM International. A Thermador luxury appliance package, including an induction range from Howard Payne, elevates both performance and design. Top Knobs hardware in Honey Bronze adds warmth and contrast, complementing the beautiful hardwood flooring throughout the space. Custom elements—including the dining table and fireplace mantel—were crafted by Against the Grain WoodTops, completing this vibrant, highly personalized kitchen remodel.
